I pray everyone is enjoying our beautiful spring weather. Our Lay Chaplain, Jo Ann and I went with another Lay Chaplain, Rhonda, and our friend, the Diocesan Military Ministry Liaison (Leslie) to visit the Frank Tejeda Veteran’s Home in Floresville. St. Matthias has been sending the Home, Veteran’s Day and Valentine cards for a few years and we were finally able to visit them. They have veterans from WWII to the current conflict in the Gulf. We spent time visiting, listening, and sharing. We also presented veterans with prayer shawls and bracelets, Armor of God challenge coins and pins. Jo Ann and I also visited the Devine Nursing Home to see how we can get involved with visits in the future.

We had an emotional and Holy Spirit filled Holy week as we retraced the Passion of Jesus. If you couldn’t attend, you can watch our Palm Sunday, Stations of the Cross, Tenebrae, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday worship services on our St. Matthias Facebook and YouTube pages. Our Easter service with the children flowering the cross will be posted as well.

We’re entering a float in the Natalia Bluebonnet Festival Parade like last year, Saturday, April 6th. We’ll be tossing our famous church bags filled with goodies to the spectators. If you haven’t seen Allison throw one of those bags, wow!
