As we enter the sacred season of Advent, the people of St. Matthias are invited once again to slow down and make room in our hearts for the coming of Christ. Advent is a time of holy expectation, a gentle rhythm of watching, waiting, and trusting that God is at work in ways we can’t always see. In the midst of December’s busy pace, this season calls us to pause, breathe, and listen for the quiet hope God is still planting among us.

This month, our St. Matthias family journeys together toward the light of Christmas, carrying our prayers, our joys, and even our weary places to the One who comes to dwell with us. Through worship, fellowship, service, and generosity, we prepare not only to celebrate the birth of Jesus, but also to welcome Him anew into our daily lives. Advent reminds us that God’s promises are for all people, and that Christ’s coming brings peace and renewal to every corner of our world.

And soon, with hearts full and candles lit, we will rejoice in the miracle of Christmas, the astonishing truth that God chose to be with us in love. May the beauty of this season fill our homes with gratitude, our gatherings with kindness, and our life together at St. Matthias with the deep assurance that Emmanuel, God with Us, still brings light into every darkness. We look forward to celebrating this holy season with you and giving thanks for the gift of Christ among us.
