October 2026 Newsletter
October is one of those months that seems to invite us to slow down for a moment and notice the blessings all around us. The year is beginning to turn toward its final months, and it gives us a natural opportunity to look back with gratitude and look ahead with hope. Here at St. Matthias, we have so much for which to be thankful. We have a church family that worships together, supports one another, reaches out to our community, and continues to discover new ways to share the love of Christ. As we approach All Saints’ Day and Dia De Los Muertos, we are also reminded that our story didn’t begin with us. We stand on the shoulders of those faithful people who came before us, and their prayers, service, and love helped make St. Matthias the church it is today.
October also brings two wonderful opportunities to celebrate God’s gifts. Our Blessing of the Animals gives us a chance to give thanks for the creatures who bring so much joy, companionship, and unconditional love into our lives. We also begin our annual stewardship campaign, inviting each of us to prayerfully consider the gifts God has given us and how we can use our time, talents, and resources to support the ministry and mission of St. Matthias. Stewardship is about much more than what we put in the offering plate; it’s an expression of gratitude for all that God has entrusted to us. As we begin this new campaign, may we remember where we have come from, give thanks for where we are, and look forward with faith to where God is leading St. Matthias next.
