September 2026 Newsletter

September is finally here, which means we can begin to pretend that cooler weather is just around the corner. Of course, here in South Texas, “around the corner” can be a rather flexible concept! The school buses are back on the roads, football is returning to our weekends, and our calendars are once again filling up faster than we might like. But September also gives us a wonderful opportunity to pause and remember that, while the seasons change, God’s presence remains constant. The routines of summer begin to shift, and we find ourselves gathering together again with renewed energy, ready to worship, fellowship, and continue the work God has placed before us.

At St. Matthias, we are blessed to be more than a building where we gather on Sunday mornings. We are a community of faith, and that community becomes stronger whenever we share our time, our talents, our stories, and even a little laughter together. As we enter this new season, I hope we will continue looking for ways to reach beyond our church walls and share the love of Christ with our neighbors and our community. Sometimes ministry is something as simple as inviting someone to church, offering a helping hand, or taking the time to listen. And if we happen to do all of that while staying reasonably cool in the process, well, I think we can count that as an additional blessing! May this September bring us renewed faith, joyful fellowship, and plenty of opportunities to be the hands and feet of Christ in the world around us.
