The Easter season is more than a celebration of Christ’s resurrection—it’s a living invitation to transformation in our own lives. In these fifty days of joy, we’re reminded that resurrection isn’t just a past event but a present reality. As we witness new life in nature and in our communities, Easter calls us to live as people of hope, grounded in the promise that love is stronger than death. Whether we’re recovering from hardship, rebuilding relationships, or simply seeking renewed purpose, the Risen Christ walks with us, offering peace and possibility. In every act of compassion, forgiveness, and courage, Easter continues to unfold—right here, right now.

I was blessed to be discharged from the VA hospital in time to surprise everyone at our Easter Sunday worship service. As I mentioned in my sermon, I underwent a triple spinal fusion surgery after spending six weeks in a wheelchair, unable to stand or walk.

There were moments when I wasn’t sure I would ever walk again. But on Easter, I stood before everyone with the help of a walker, yes, but with a heart full of gratitude and eyes open to the miracle of life in ways I never imagined.

I have received not just the ability to walk again, but a new eyeglass prescription to see clearly, and hearing aids so I can hear the voices of those I love and the hymns of Easter, again.

In this Easter season, I know the power of resurrection, not just in theory, but in my body, in my bones, in my breath. I pray you will also be resurrected.
